Yes - exactly - rolling back a single DC which was the only one with the "new bad" schema doesn't hurt, but it' also able to forcefully demote, metadata cleanup, dcpromo again, or reinstall fully with metadata-cleanup in between, or just flush it and seize the schema master. Result will always be a non-updated schema.
