If replication works the same in ADAM as it does in AD (and I do believe that's the case), then changes must be committed before they're replicated. Either the entire write completes or it is uncommitted thereby saving you from corruption.

If MIIS was updating ADAM with data, and the primary machine went down, would our ADAM data get corrupted? Or would the ADAM servers replicate the data correctly, once both machines were back up?
