Title: Replication and branch office considerations

I'm currently looking at AD replication design options and considerations within a large, global, disperse environment and currently concentrating on those aspects that may be of benefit in a 'branch office' scenario.

The environment has around 30 branches - connected back to hubs at anywhere between 128kb and 2Mb.

Of particular interest are the following topics:
1. Replication consistency (loose vs strict)
2. Replication schedule hashing (pros and cons)
3. Replication schedule staggering (pros and cons)
4. Replication and kcc redundant mode (pros and cons)
5. Replication traffic estimates (profiling / tools etc)

Does anyone have any experiences - good or bad - relating to any of the topics above?

Are there any tools (other than AD Sizer which I've used) which can help model AD replication traffic, based upon typical profiles (similar to loadsim perhaps)?

Outside of the branch office guides, I've found information on topics 2, 3 and 4 to be somewhat "thin on the ground". Does anyone have any other good sources where these topics are discussed (in detail)?

I suspect that options 2, 3 and 4 are not particular relevant in an environment with only 30 branches, but am interested in hearing views in any case. Has anyone found any good reasons to change default behaviours relating to points 1, 2, 3 or 4?

Thanks,
neil
