Just an update for anyone following the thread. I downloaded the latest SNAPSHOT source, compiled it and ran the same scenario again using the new jars. Everything worked fine, even without modifying the soTimeout value in the URI. I'll make sure I grab the latest SNAPSHOT the next time I run into anything.
