The ActiveMQConnectionFactory has nothing to do with the broker - whether you can create this object or not is more to do with your JNDI provider than where the broker is running. Whether or not the connection factory can connect is another matter though :)
I have to use a broker external to JBoss. Do you find a solution to retrieve the QueueConnectionFactory ?
