Dear Grant McLean & Cameron Dorey, Ok, it looks as though it is a permissions problem with the OLE. The problem that I have been seeing, though, is one where I am logged on to the system as the Admin, the browser (server) is running as the anonymous user, and Access runs as the anonymous user too. Here, instead of simply refusing me access (sic.) I get the program running, with Access responding, and then Access crashes during the OLE operation. This sounds like a bug somewhere. The good news is that if everything runs as the Admin, the connection works! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
