Because the documentation for modules on Activestate.com suggests that the
Win32 Socket6 module was not available.

And of course my script didn't work....it was a very convenient thing to
blame.

Is Socket6 not the same as Socket?

I'll go back to it and see what else might be wrong then

Why makes you say that?  Are you getting an error message?  If so,
tell us what it is.

'use Socket;' should work (you did use a capital 'S' right?

I've got a number of scripts that use it.  If I was starting a new
script I'd probably use IO::Socket, but both options should work
fine.
