I am looking at the various ways in which two or more running Perl processes can communicate with each other (i.e. I am looking at inter-process communication, or IPC).
I am particularly interested in any approaches that would work on both Windows and UNIX systems (that's Windows NT and 2000 - not 95,98 or ME). File-based IPC is one method that seems to work quite well, but are there any other options? UNIX has signals but I believe that Windows does not support this. Can one use sockets? Remember, I am talking about two independently running processes on the same machine (although they could be on different machines on a local network or even over an internet link, and I know that most sockets examples are for these kind of more remote connections). Thanks for your help in advance - Chris Humphries _______________________________________________ ActivePerl mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe: http://listserv.ActiveState.com/mailman/listinfo/activeperl
