I knew you'd all come running if I used that catchy subject line.

Seriously, though: my command-line perl program fetches database records
and prints them out as html. Tested on three machines -- Win98, Win2K, and
a NetBSD box -- it works just fine.

I email it as an attached file to the guy I wrote it for (a fellow
volunteer for the small nonprofit whose data we're working with, btw). He
says he runs it and gets

"Can't find string terminator "END" anywhere before EOF at nyctdir.pl line
79"

which is plainly bull. He is running Win2K. His perl interpreter is
installed ok, it seems, because he can do "hello world." He has gotten the
required modules via ppm.

What on earth might be happening? For the curious, I have posted the full
program as html, (syntax highlighting, line numbers and all courtesy of
code2html) with the db connection parameters censured for modesty's sake
of course:

        http://dmintzweb.com/nyctdir.src.html

The line numbering isn't quite the same as when he told me about the
error, but pretty close.

Gratefully,
