By default all ports on a Windows NT box are open, both UDP and TCP. You
have to actually select the Advanced tab on the Microsoft TCP/IP properties
window. Then you have to select the Enable Security box (in the bottom left
corner) then configure it to restrict ports or to allow only certain ports.
As I say, if you haven't done this all ports are open.

As to what Perl snippets to use I'm afraid I'm a newbie at Perl however the
way I'd approach the problem is to run sysdiff from the nt resource kit to
see which bit of the registry is changed when TCP/IP security is enabled /
disabled then use something like win32::TieRegistry to write the change
directly to the registry. Unfortunately WinNT then requires a reboot to
re-read the registry afterwards.

Hope this helps.

I *will* be using nmap on the remote system.
I want to prove that the firewall doesn't leak.

        Thanks,

        Benny

You will probably be better off getting nmap or something similar
and
capturing the output with perl to parse and generate the information
you
        need.

        Regards,

        Jeff
