Its worth remembering that the month value that comes from perl's time
functions:

       #  0    1    2     3     4    5     6     7     8
       ($sec,$min,$hour,$mday,$mon,$year,$wday,$yday,$isdst) =
                                                   localtime(time);

is zero based, i.e. January is 0, December is 12, if you want to compare to
the current date.
