I have a slight problem that requires your wealth of
experience/knowledge
I wrote a program in perl that will update IE shortcuts with new url's.
The program works fine except for files with special characters in the file
name
I am using the following to get a list of the files the program will work
on in windows
open (URL, "dir *.url /b /s |");
upon iterating through the handle <URL> perl is unable to open such files.
example of a file name is
Tahiti Nui Travel � Facts about the country � Temperatures.url
Jan Dubois suggested using codepage 1252 however there is an issue with
this once the app is packaged.
Any Ideas on what I should do. please note that I can open the file if I
type it into the per script in quotes
