use:

$var =~ s/\xA7/x/;

or

open(INFILE, "o_\xA75_Meldung.htm") or die "cant open file $!\n";

Subject: open file with special char

Hi,
I try to open a file on windows nt, with active perl 583.
The filename contains the special char e.g. o_5_Meldung.htm.

open(INFILE, "o_5_Meldung.htm") or die "cant open file $!\n";

results in this error message:
cant open file No such file or directory

I cannot even replace this char with
$var =~ s/\/x/;

Any ideas??

p.s. it works fine within cygwin.
