Is there a way to change the behavior of the 'eq' operator? I want it to perform case insensitive comparisons.
I don't know if you can change the behavior of eq (or ne) but this is what I do:
(uc $v1) eq (uc $v2)
I uppercase $v1 and $v2 before using eq. I don't know if the parentheses are necessary or in fact cause extra work for Perl.
