    That is not an excerpt of well-formed XML. Post your
example in plain text, not HTML. Post a short piece of the actual

    What perl data structure are you using to hold the matrix?

    What code have you tried so far? Searching a file for a word
is a very common task to perform in perl. Is that the part which
troubles you or is it something else?

    How are you storing the file names in your script? In an
array, perhaps? With that and the matrix data structure we
could possibly help.
