First of all thank you very much for your response.
I'm still having the same problems. Saving to a file works with the code provided, but worked also by just saying $string->latin1.
My problem is on the Console and MySql Database queries.
With your _expression_ i get "Acentuaci??n" on the console. Really the console is just a way of trying to discover the problem. My real problem is sending the query to MySql (all the character set in MySql are set to latin1).

I have problem running a Perl Script under ActivePerl. On Linux i
have no problem, but with ActivePerl on Windows i have a problem with
the encoding.

I get... Acentuaci<n as a response and i can't find what the problem
is, or how to set the default output encoding.
