 -eshell start an interactive "shell" session. Just give ti a try:

  perl -MCPAN -eshell

 

 First time you start it, it will do some initialisation (for the CPAN module), just answer the questions (most could do with the suggested "default" values).

 

 After that just enter "help" and youe will see what CPAN can do for you.

Gurus, sorry i have a newbie question ...

 

1. Could any body tell me what does options "-MCPAN" and "-eshell" mean in the below code ...

 

"perl -MCPAN -eshell\n",
        "       install DBI\n";

 

I believe the Author is trying to install the DBI module from CPAN. But what does these 2 options mean???

 

Any suggestions/advises will be very much appreciated. Is there some documentation for the "options" ; so that I can lookup to get the entire list of options???

 

I am having Win XP n Perl 5.8 on my machine.
