Another module that might be useful is Devel::Peek. This has functions that can do timing tests on different versions of code (timethese) and compare the results (cmpthese). This is really handy when you want to know whether a putative "improvement" makes things better--or worse. I've used this stuff a lot and found it very helpful--in one instance my great big improvement idea made things much worse. Oops. Without Peek, I wouldn't have known about it until I put the change into code--and then I'd've been scratching my head, wondering what went wrong.

HI,
I am in urgent need of optimising the a perl script which is able to handle to 1000 request in one min and the requirement is to handle 5000 requests in one minute.
I have that file with me. Could any one let me know how can we find out which portion of the code is taking much time, or any idea how should I start on this issue.
Any help/idea is welcome.
Thanks
