I have Berkeley DB files created with Perl 5.6.1 on MS Windows. Attempting to open these files on another windows machine with Perl 5.8.8 fails silently. There is no error message in $!, but no object is returned from the tie. Creating and working with new files works fine with the Perl 5.8.8.
The version of Berkeley DB for the Perl 5.6.1 version would be correspondingly old. Is there any way to convince Perl 5.8.8 to read the old databases? Why is there no error message? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Horace Redelmyer Redelmyer Inc.
