I've needed SSH (and SFTP) a few weeks ago, I spent some time trying to make Net::SFTP, Net::SSH::Perl and Net::SSH::W32perl working, ran into all kinds of problems and later installed Net::SSH2 and it seems to work without problems. I did not run any benchmarks, but it seems to work fine.
