Yes. I reported this bug like 2 or 3 years ago. It's already (and still) on 
the bug waiting list of Active State.

You can upgrade you GD version using PPM and that will solve it. However, if 
you do that, then you probably will lose the ability to rotate images, which 
is the one thing that the core GD from Active State can do that the others 
can't.
