...or even having the choice to be in the wrong place at the right time
when a bomb goes off subscribed for by the American people. Having
narrowly avoided one such 'incident' and having lost friends in others,
or in another case, bits of a friend I would have really hoped that
since the first attempt on the Twin Towers the US would have learned
that what one reaps is what one sows.

Having being almost reaped by a so-called friendly nation you will have
to forgive my reluctance to get into the over emotional, almost
hysterical, outburst of last September. Have I sympathy for those who
lost friends and family? Indeed, yes, and without reservation, I have.
This was never in doubt, having known some people who worked in one of
the Towers, but what truly upsets me is the near hysteria for the Nation
and the Way Of Life of a Nation rather than for the people actually
suffered.

The families I have nothing but sympathy for. The Nation? Something
else; after making so many enemies since the second world war (what is
it, 23 coups and a 'conviction' from the World Court?) and the
disgraceful way in which the US' foreign policy is kept from its own
population. If the average American could see and understand what is
done in his name overseas then he would be appalled. This is the nub
of the issue here; a great proportion of people worldwide have nothing
but respect for the individual American or, collectively, the American
People; but when it comes to the American State or the Corporations
thereof the feeling is, generally, of something between intense distrust
to intense dislike.

My wife is an American living in the United Kingdom. She sees more
about the US Foreign Policy here in Europe than she'd ever see on the
pasteurised and sanitised CNN, ABC and NPC network news. Above all she
wonders why anyone still wants to talk to her on the street at times!

So, to recap; this is not an attack, a slur or an insult on the American
people but the rest of us around the world are sick to death of hearing
about how wonderful the American State is whilst dodging bombs and
bullets supplied by the same. What happened last year is that
someone's patience simply ran out and, like a cornered beast, fought
back.

I personally believe the best thing would be for Americans to collar
their senators and congressmen and get them to give more information
about the foreign policy over the media and in greater detail. Perhaps
then the American State won't be permitted to try to get away with what
it has been trying to do all along and thus, in turn, will prevent
another outrage like last year's.

May I ask that we all take our grieving elsewhere and to do it privately
and, for those who are of a religious nature, call upon their Gods in
peace and quiet?

This is my last word on-forum about this matter.

Sincere Best wishes to all
  Malc

as if it wasn't the choice of the american society to neglect the fact
that
they are/were abusing the world and so creating enemies capable of
returning
the favor.

in fact, the ones america has pointed as quilty, without trial or even
descent prove, are trained and supplied by the same country they
attacked.

so i quess you can see the attacks on the WTC as the cancer caused by
smoking up the planet.

P.S.
with this being my 3th post i will no longer respond to this topic. For
as i
agree with rob's view, altough he didn't pick the right words to adres
it.

Yea because september 11th and lung cancer from someone's choice to
smoke
cigarettes are pretty much the same thing.

Roberts reasonable suggestion was that this conversation would be more
suitable
in a different forum..........and he is right in saying so.

As tragic as 9/11 was, and it was horrendous, the number of deaths pales
in
comparision with for example, the number of people that die yearly from
cancer
and heart disease caused by smoking cigarettes. However I'm almost
certain
that
most members of this list would not appreciate it if I or anyone else
used
this
forum to get on a soapbox espousing the evils of tobacco.

Certainly many of us including myself occasionally slip in an MS Access
or
Javascript question because it is closely related to our .ASP
development
and
the expertise in web development in general is recognized and
appreciated.
But
I feel we should try to keep our OT topics to those that have some
relationship
to the main topic and by all means politics and religion and anything
even
close to those should definitely be discussed in a more suitable forum.
