I have a little more information after opening by project dll in the object browser I found that the index class was not listed so it is not being built. How do I add a class to the dll? I have tried deleting and recreating the index page but that did not help.

If not, then you know where your problem lies. If it does exists, Perhaps you should look wheter you don't have multiple classes with the name Index. This is a little bug in vs.net. When you copy&Paste a file, the class .vb file that goes with the aspx file (the codebehind) doesn't get renamed and therefor creating a duplicate class with the same name.
