Jen:

See the reply below from Toni, who manages housing assignments...Ohio State
still does room assignments by hand. Let me know if you want the language from
the contract when I get it. We have no written policy.

Eunice-Students are able to agree to being an Ally on their residence hall
contract. I can send you the verbiage.

In terms of the process itself, we manually match Allies with LGBTQ students
who do not have roommate requests. We try to be more deliberate and make sure
they are going to start off with someone more open-minded.

Subject: [acupa-l] LGBTQ and Ally Roommate Matching Policy/Program

Dear colleagues:

Do any of your respective institutions have LGBTQ and ally roommate matching
policies or programs for your residence halls? The policy we are considering
would offer an opportunity for students to request being matched to live with a
roommate who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,
queer/questioning, or an ally (LGBTQA). An ally is defined as someone who
identifies as straight and wants to be supportive of those who identify as
LGBTQ.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

JEN
