Good morning, all...any input you care to share will be very helpful. We received inquiries regarding Staff Scholarship Guidelines for same-sex partners and dependents. Our educational scholarship benefits are extended to employees and their dependents. UNT's nondiscrimination policy statement says "The University of North Texas does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, political affiliation, disability, marital status, ancestry, genetic information, citizenship, or veteran status in its application and admission process, educational programs and activities, university facilities, or employment policies." The question being asked is: With this policy stating it is unlawful to discriminate against Sexual Orientation, can same-sex partners be granted the Staff Scholarship benefit, even though the state of Texas does not recognize the union? Many thanks.
