Hi All,
We have a policy for Minors on Campus @
http://inside.mines.edu/UserFiles/File/PoGo/Policies/HRS/HRS_Policy_Protection_of_Minors.pdf
  and inventory/registration form at
http://inside.mines.edu/UserFiles/File/PoGo/Policies/HRS/HRS_Protection_of_Minors_Event_Form.pdf.

We still need training in a formalized manner. What materials (if any) are you
all willing to share (allow beg, borrow, steal) on Minors in Academic programs
or summer camps? I really like the Indiana U presentations on line, what else
are folks using? Is anyone making sport camps become ACA accredited? If you
prefer to chat offline, please give me a call or email.

Thanks!
Jane

Ohio State's current policy is here:
http://hr.osu.edu/public/documents/policy/policy150.pdf

It is currently undergoing a very substantial revision. The draft will go out
for comment on September 1. I only have a redline version that I have not
reviewed yet. I'll send that separately to Kim... Just don't want it out
nationally when it hasn't been shared locally...

Hi Kim,
Minnesota's policy is located here:
http://www.policy.umn.edu/Policies/Operations/Outreach/MINORSAFETY.html.

A work team has just finished creating all the supplemental information that is
needed to fully implement the policy (the training, an enhanced registration
system, and health and safety guidelines. The documents went through the
policy advisory committee yesterday, and will be in front of the VPs in
September. The work also included some enhancements to the policy listed
above. I expect all of the documents to be on our site under Policies Under
Review something after September 10th, if you want to go back and look later.

Good luck,
Michele

Hello Kim,

UTSA has a policy in minors in laboratories that can be found

We also have a more general policy about unsupervised

Hello:

We are interested in building a glossary of terms at our University and would
like to know about best practices and proven methodologies. Specifically:
1. How does your institution manage the relationship between definitions
within the glossary and definitions within policy?

2. Does your institution have one universal glossary, or multiple
glossaries with different terms of reference/purposes?

3. Does your institution provide guidelines to support the composition of
glossary entries? (Style, length etc.)

4. Does your institution have terms of reference for the glossary? (What
types of terms 'belong', or don't etc.)
Any information that you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Hi Holly,
We have a glossary of terms for administrative policies
<http://policy.umn.edu/categories/glossary.cfm>, and have established some
standards and a process for handling our glossary. To the best of my
knowledge, there isn't one for the institution.

It appears that each major area might have something specific to their focus.
For example, here is the one for financial aid:
http://onestop.umn.edu/finances/financial_aid/basics/glossary.html and a link
to a separate one to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
http://www.acgme.org/acgmeweb/Portals/0/PFAssets/ProgramRequirements/ab_ACGMEglossary.pdf
.

Good luck,
Michele

Hi Holly,

At ODU, each policy has its own list of definitions "as used in this policy."
I do keep a running list of these definitions and it is available on our
website. In many cases, because a term may have different meaning in different
policies, that term will be listed more than once in my running list. (I also
note for each term the policy number in which it was used.)

Our Policy Review Committee uses this list as a tool when we are reviewing
policies. If we see that a policy owner has added a definition of a term that
is similar to, but slightly different than, the same term used in another
policy, we may suggest that the policy owner revise their definition to match
a definition that was already used, as long as its intended meaning is the same.

Best,

Donna

Hello all,

We are developing a "business diversity" or "business inclusiveness" policy to
enhance the UW's aspirational commitment to including minority or women-owned
business enterprises (MWBEs) for contracts or purchases. If you have such a
policy, especially one that does not require a specific number of contracts,
please send me a link to that policy.

My thanks in advance!
