Good morning!

This email responds to two recent inquiries, on threat assessment and on
handling reserves.

Heather, the University of New Mexico has a few related policies on threat
assessment focusing on information security:
UAP 2500 ("Acceptable Computer Use") -
http://policy.unm.edu/university-policies/2000/2500.html
UAP 2520 ("Computer Security Controls and Access to Sensitive and Protected
Information") - http://policy.unm.edu/university-policies/2000/2520.html
UAP 2550 ("Information Security") -
http://policy.unm.edu/university-policies/2000/2550.html

Melinda, here is UNM's policy on handling reserves:
UAP 7000 ("Budgets and Reserves") -
http://policy.unm.edu/university-policies/7000/7000.html
Basically, the University generally does not 'harvest' the end of year
reserves, but we do require departments to categorize all reserves as
"committed, dedicated, or discretionary" each year; if needed to bolster the
central reserve, the University may harvest departments' annual savings from
prior fiscal year but generally only up to 25%.

Best,
Bonnie Leigh
