Assuming the old machine is not connected to the network? Yes. Before doing
anything though, make sure you have a valid LOCAL logon account name and
password configured and test that you can successfully log on with that. If
you are using cached domain credentials right now, those are going to disappear
when you remove it from the domain. To change the domain name to a workgroup
go to control panel, system, computer name, change. It won't accept any domain
name and pwd you supply as that prompt is trying to change the domain's
computer account (and you're not connected), but just click through and it will
change the local settings. Reboot when prompted and the domain should be gone.
You may still have to remove locally assigned domain accounts if there are any
(these will just show up as SIDs).

This only affects the local machine, but it sounds like you don't want to touch
the domain account anyway since you are re-using that already. BTW-this is not
going to work if the old computer is/was a DC.

Subject: Removing the Domain Feature

Is there a way to remove a computer's domain info without having it connected
to the domain?

I have a computer that I domained. It's an old machine I was using for
testing. I have since put a new one in production that has the same computer
name, is domained, etc.
Now I want remove the domain info from the old one.

Possibly a registry "hack"..???

Thanks....
