Rene/Bob,
My apologies for the slow response. Vacation and illness don't go
well together.

From the MS e-mail to us

      1) If you have the adapter's GUID mentioned in this registry key

“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\DNSRegisteredAdapters”
then that adapter will register in DNS unless you put a registry
      “DisableDynamicUpdate” in “Tcpip\Parameters\Interface\GUID” key of
      that adapter.

      2) “Register this connection’s address in DNS” in the adapter
TCP/IP properties corresponds to the registry key
      “Tcpip\Parameters\Interface\GUID\RegistrationEnabled”.

      3) So, if you uncheck the check box for registration in DNS on
the NIC it will set “RegistrationEnabled” =0 however for some reason
if that GUID is not removed from
      “Tcpip\Parameters\DNSRegisteredAdapters” then that adapter will
      continue to register in DNS.

      4) The article we discussed over the phone is
      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816592 .

So, essentially, there are two approaches. You can either add the
DisableDynamicUpdate entry or you can delete the adapter GUID from
DNSRegisteredAdapters and set RegistrationEnabled=0
