As someone who has nearly three million users on it I can confirm it works ok with no issue at all just get your groups right

Playing around with it, it seems like you have to add users manually and then configure security. I have a security structure already set up in ad (of course) and I just want to port ad into sharepoint. Single point of configuration, add a user in ad and they show up in sharepoint.
