One of my recent tickets was from a schoolkids mum ... "My son is looking on
google for 'hot women in brazil' can you please stop this"

I had a user email me the other day asking if anything I was doing at work
would cause problems on her home PC.

Holy hell what a wanker..

Sorry to see that going on, but hell its usually the clueless that create the
major issues and make life for us so difficult.

The worst thing is ... thats not the worst thing ...... he emailed me the other
week "Can I have root access to the ftp proxy server so that I can do some
admin work" ... so after I asked who, what, where, why and when ..... he comes
back with "I am still waiting on my training course" ..... the thing is he is
the 2nd line team lead ... his staff cant stand him .... and they are ten times
more clued up than he is ... I think he has a slightly brown nose

This is a guy who changed the IP address on our Citrix Access Gateway as a
"test" on our busiest day of the week. Kinda wreaked a bit of havoc with our
remote users. He is also very proud of the Active Directory "he" designed, even
though i spent 24 hours pulling it to pieces and putting my own structure in
after he'd finished.

Hey guys, you're preaching to the choir here. My boss bought it, and he likes
to take down Exchange servers in the middle of the morning just to fix some
cosmetic issue. I hate Symantec with a passion that appears to be quite common.

Symantec Sucks.. Period..

Call Symantec support right away and ask for their cleanwipe tool. That will
solve ALL of your Symantec problems forever.

;)

As long as Symantec is on the network there should always be something to have
to fix. ;-)

Oh how I long to be back in a big environment...the heady days of when the
backbone security team "leased" admin access to support teams for specific
tasks and timeframes...when you couldn't get a service account with any more
access than it absolutely needed...when patches were tested at four different
levels before arriving in production :-)

Now there's just me, WebSense, AppSense and Symantec Antivirus between the
infrastructure and anarchy.

Enuff reminiscing.....back to fixing stuff

2009/1/29 Ziots, Edward <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>>

I hear you, can't tolerate that stuff here, of course scheduling of 700 servers
to be patched across 2 week timeline with a lockout on changes from 7am-5pm
posed by executive management doesn't make for happy campers...
