Hi,
I have been thinking about the small field in Brede High Wood at
TQ794202, and why larger plants are not growing there.
Am I correct in thinking the plants that do grow there are all early
stage plants? Plants that will grow under harsh conditions.
We know the area was used during the construction of the dam, but was it
used as a dump site from the pugging mill?
Am I right in thinking the waste product from a pugging mill is stone?
If so, there is probably a very thin layer of soil over a large pile of
stones. Could this be why larger plants have not moved into the area?
