Hooo ray...Anwar is released. At last Badawi has
released him. What? What? I thought it was our Federal Court that released him -
BUT alas the public believes that it was the government that released him...not
our independent Malaysian Judiciary. I choose to believe that it was our
independent judges that released them on their own, and that the government or
Abdullah Badawi or Dr Mahathir had anything to do with it. Even if Mahathir was
still the PM, the Federal Court would have still come to the same decision...and
Anwar would have been released.
To think otherwise would be an insult to our own
Malaysian judiciary - there is a serious need for the Malaysian public to be
educated that our JUDICIARY, the the third limb of government, is independent
...independent of the executive..independent of the legislative...independent of
the political parties...and independent of corruption of any sort.
PROCLAIM we can of this independence of our
Judiciary...but our Malaysian Judiciary must also not only be independent but
also should be seen to be independent. What did our Judiciary do or not do that
has led a lot of people to believe that they are NOT independent, and their
judgments are what the PM or the government of the day wishes?
In solidarity,
Charles Hector
