| PUTRAJAYA: National Registration
Department (NRD) public relations officer Jainisah Mohd Noor said Abdul
Mutalib Taib was arrested after he tried to apply for his eldest childs
identification card (IC) last month.
When he made the application, we nabbed him on
suspicion that his IC was issued incorrectly.
Upon further
investigations, we found that the man had committed various offences,
after which his case came under the Internal Security Act, she said,
refusing to elaborate.
As such, Abdul Mutalibs citizenship had to
be revoked.
His Immigration permits were also found to be
suspicious and he was sent to the Immigration Department for further
action, she said.
Immigration Department enforcement director
Datuk Ishak Mohamed said Abdul Mutalib was informed of his
offences.
He was informed and he had said he will let his family
know of his situation. We are not obliged to tell his family anything,
said Ishak.
He added that when Abdul Mutalib was served the notice
of deportation, he was also made to understand that he can appeal against
it.
In the notice, it was stated that he can make the appeal
within seven days of the notice. We are waiting to see if he would submit
an appeal, he said.
As for his family, Ishak said it all depends
on the appeal.
The deportation notice was only for him, not his
family. Their status can still be discussed if they too file appeals to
the department, he
said.
