Presiden bush baru saja berpidato di Nort Carolina tentang "keberhasilannya" berperang di Irak. Kata-kata yang penuh statistik nilai-nilai "A" berulangkali dilontarkan, memuji dirinya sendiri. Para penjilatnya pun sorak-sorak bergembira mendengar ocehannya. Tapi apakah pidatonya obyektif? Bagaimana pertanggungjawaban moral dari sikapnya memenjara tanpa pengadilan orang-orang yg dituduh terlibat al Qaedah di Guantanamo? Bagaimana pula sikap amerika menanggapi pasukannya yang melecehkan dan memperkosa wanita-wanita Irak? Kenapa amerika bungkam saja?
Ribuan foto kebiadaban amerika di Irak telah diketahui kongres, tapi hanya beberapa yang dipublikasikan. Tak ada satu foto pun yang memperlihatkan kebiadaban amerika memperkosa wanita Irak. Foto itu memang tidak pernak dipublikasikan, dan tidak akan dipublikasikan sampai suatu saat yang belum pasti. Sebab bila dipublikasikan sekarang, amerika sama saja bunuh diri. Kalau dipublikasikan, sama saja bush menembak lalat di kepalanya sendiri. Tapi walaupun media amerika diam, media duni diam, ratusan situs internet dan petisi hak asasi manusia yakin punya segudang informasi tentang kebenaran tingkah-laku tentara amerika yang melecehkan wanita Irak.
