Paige: I have to agree with the other responders. .mpg should only be used for distribution. All editing should be done in .avi format, preferably in uncompressed format.
Here's the steps that I use: Export your video as .avi (if possible). If your system (camera or deck) won't export .avi, export as .mpg, then convert it to .avi. (I use "Video Mach" for converting mpg to avi) http://www.gromada.com/ ($19.95 to buy, demo available) Converting from .mpg to .avi may couse an audio time lag, which will need to be tweaked in an audio editing program (that's what I do) Import the .avi video capture into Premiere. Edit, splice, etc. Save out the finished project as an uncompressed .avi Import the uncompressed .avi into your burning program. Your burning program (should) automatically select the correct .mpg format when it burns the video to disk. If it doesn't, then it's probably not the best program to use. (just my opinion). Another thing to consider: .mpg is (sometimes) sensitive to image size. Here's a good link to check out for info. http://www.jeremymoore.com/AdobePremiere/FAQ/ Knuck --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > I captured a friend's VHS home movie in mpg - converted it to avi - but > had to capture it in pieces so I used Premiere to piece it back together > and recreate the original.
