You don't want to scan at your final resolution. you may want to crop. in 
fact since 35mm isn't same aspect ratio you will have to crop. I would 
also recommend considering scanning in 48 bit color then adjusting 
contrast and color to suit in that mode then converting to 24 bit jpeg for 
your final ready to insert shot.
