The capture process is not affected by one video card or another. It can affect what you see in the capture window, because it is creating the overlay that allows you to view the tape as it runs. Have you checked the properties on a captured clip (within the Premiere bin window) to see if in fact it has dropped frames? If it has you need to review your system specs with us, and verify that you have defragged the capture drive, have a reasonable amount of space open on it (no less than 15% after capture) and have as many background processes shut down as possible. Many things can contribute to dropped frames but the appearance of them versus the reality is much easier to fix. That's just one of the reasons why you must have a TV attached in a way that allows you to see your clips straight off the hard drive - out via RCA/S-video through the camcorder is preferred. Re video cards, I use an ATI Radeon 9600 (128 MB) on my 6.5 editing PC. It's about two years old and I think was at or under your price ceiling. Almost any mainstream consumer card will work with DV25. Don't bother with options like TV-in, just a basic card with 128 MB minimum.

Just now getting around to editing, but in Premiere 6.5, the capturing is dropping lots of frames, unlike my former 1 CCD Sony TRV22. I'm thinking it's probably the video card which is way outdated. Can anyone reccommend a video card for around $100 for capturing and editing video with this camera? If need be, I can spend more. Thanks in advance.
