The short answer is yes. VCD/MPG-1 is half-resolution video, similar in
quality to VHS video, better in some passages and worse in others,
generally having to do with the amount of motion involved in the various
scenes encoded. MPG-1 is a relatively old compression scheme, but remains
popular in part because it's PC/MAC compatible, and generally plays on any
computer. You get much better results with Windows Media Encoder 9, but
higher odds that some viewer won't be able to see it, including the
majority of DVD set top players for now.

Hi

I wanted to encode the video i did in PPRO 1.5 to a VCD
but looking at the settings for MPEG1-VCD in the media encoder window
i see that the frame size is only 352 x 240
and it's in gray so I can't export it as 720 X 480 as i had wanted to
my option was to export it as MPEG1, and when i burned it onto a CD
and played it on a DVD player the words "vcd 2.0" came out on the TV screen

So I'm not that sure if it is compatible with most VCD players.

Anyway, i was hoping someone could help me understand this.
Is VCD really 352 x 240? Is that the standard size for it and I can't
change it?

Thanks
