Yes, but he's repeatedly stated that he's authoring for the web for goodness sake, so he needs to get it to look right on a PC screen!!!!! Watching it on a calibrated TV monitor and adjusting according to that is going to cause it to look too dark on the web. An additional complication is that Macs have a different gamma to PC's so even if he gets it right for the one it won't be quite right for the other. Dunno what setting would represent the best compromise - you probably need to look at which is going to be your biggest target audience. Wes D. ----Nope, sorry....not true at all. Windows Media Player displays video differently than your capture tool and it is closer to NTSC. Even if you are viewing WMP on a VGA you still get a better idea of how the video really is going to look, but only if your monitor is calibrated. Best thing I can advise is to look at the clips in Windows Media Player both as raw DV-AVI and ALSO after you do a test encode as Windows Media Video. But you will STILL need to calibrate ANY AND ALL monitors before you do ANYTHING or else you're shooting blanks. That was the point I've been trying to make and that's pretty much all......if there is any problem in anything you shoot the first thing you need to check is to find out if what you are observing is the result of poor calibration. Once you have eliminated that as a possible culprit you can then pursue whatever avenue of relief you see fit. But I cannot tell you how often I've had clients schedule editing and at the same time launching into a long spiel about "how terrible the color is or how dark it looked, etc" only to jump out of their skin the moment they see it over here at my suite. I simply tell them that everything in this room is calibrated to either VGA or NTSC broadcast and that what they saw on their own system wasn't the truth.
