PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I just bought Adobe Premiere 6.5 and I noticed a few error messages
while installing it.

When I opened the program for the first time an error message came
up saying there was a problem with some card. Then I got this message
as soon as I hit ok on that one:

Project initialization failed.
DV/IEEE 1394 Playback is not setup correctly.
Playback performance will be impacted.

Indeed it was impacted, when I try to make a simple preview file I
got an error saying I possibly have run out of space. Also I couldn't
That is not true, I have many gigs left on my harddrive.

This is preventing me from making preview files!

I am on Windows XP incase that is of conciquence.

I spent hours looking up the text in the error messages and trying
various things that have to do with settings and scratch disks but
nothing helps.

Also I don't have any hardware for video editing, I have this
program simply to edit media files.
