You are both correct ;)

The physical box it came in said 1.0 but the "About Box" said 7.0.

Premiere Pro 1.5 IS 1.5 and Premiere Elements is 1.0 :)

As for the problem Amit was/is having, I am not sure what else to do 
there.  It sounded like WinXP-SP2 tried to fix some things in PPro1.0, 
but screwed up PPro1.5 - thus the tech note I mentioned before.
