Perhaps we need to hear from members whether or not they consider encoding
issues Off Topic (OT). Using OT in the subject line is a well-established
practise in many groups and gives members a chance to ignore the post if it
isn't their interest area. If OT posts become a large part of the daily
activity that might reasonably trigger discussion about whether a new group
is called for.

I think there's so many forums for each individual aspect of video
producing.... yet they shouldn't be seen as individual aspects.
A small example.... say I'm doing work that involves keying... if I know the
final result is to be a flash video stream, or an mpg on CD, I'll use a
real-time keyer which gives adequate results.
However, if the video is to be played from DVD onto a wall at a conference,
I'll use dedicated keying software that will give a perfect result.
But I don't want to go to 5 different forums to discuss editing, keying,
streaming, mpg encoding and DVD production... isn't it so much better to
build up a knowledgeable group on one forum, as many people will encounter
the same problems and can share answers across the range of disciplines.
Just my 2 cents.....
