Jim, In Premiere Pro it's called Automate to sequence. In 6.x, it's called 
Automate to Timeline. However, it does not apply the default transition to 
items already on the timeline. Instead, if lays down clips from a bin in the 
project window, in order, using a default transition between them. (You can 
also choose to lay the clips at marker intervals, instead of with 
transitions, which is helpful when editing to the beats of music.)
