If you have an canopus card, go with canopus. If you don't, their software 
codec will give you an ugly Canopus water mark.

I don't believe you would see any difference in the two   codec's results. 
There were comparisons made over multiple recompressions   that favoured 
Canopus several years ago, but I have seen no reason to   believe you would 
need to be concerned about which you use   today.
