I've worked productions like this before, and if they stem from the right
creative impulses then the small details of production values usually smooth
themselves out.
Key thing to remember is to have fun and not take it too serious, and the
talent needs to remember that, on television, everything is a "bit", and it
extends only as far as the bit and they need to differentiate between "bits"
and reality just as much as the viewer does.
No place for divas in this business. The slightest indication in that
direction, give em the Simon treatment and send em packing.
Having said that, we cant all BE Simon so make your words sweet and easy to
chew in case you find yourself eating them later on.
The person I see as the most relaxed on television these days in Jimmy
Kimmel, and while not everyone has his personality, we can all take a cue from
him by not taking ourselves too seriously.
