I had a similar problem with my Sony TRV33, always the "cannot find timecode"
appear on my screen.
I thought it was a camera problem, but I decided to change the capture card (an
IEEE 1394, with VIA chip) by other one (with NEC chip) and the problem
disapeared.
No more lost frames, or lost timecode since this change.

I do not think really to be the solution to your problem, but try this

Subject: [AP] Help with batch capturing

  Hey everyone,
I am using PPro 1.0 and a Canon XL1s. I love the combination of the
two but I have one problem. I cannot seem to find a way to batch
capture with my cam. I always get a " error, or
it simply just doesn't capture. I know this sounds like a question I
should have asked like a year ago, but it hasn't been much of a
problem until now. I am creating a video for someone departing a
church for a new ministry, and I am interviewing upwards of 15-20
people, so I would love to batch capture just the areas I need.
Anyone else have this problem or able to shed some light on this
  problem for me? Thanks.

  Tom
