Hi- here's what you can do with footage you already have. This will only work if the camera is not moving.
1. Put the same clip on two tracks (track one and two). 2. Take a still frame from one (do this in exporting, you can choose just a frame). Use a graphic program to color in the image (make the mirror all black and then EVERYTHING else is white). 3. Put this on track three. 4. Follow the directions on the tutorial here http://www.freedomfx.com/html2/tutorial.htm for setting the transparency (and look around a little if my directions are confusing- you'll get it). 5. Apply a filter from the video control palette. Alternatively, if you have Photoshop I have rendered short clips as .tga frames. Then I edit them in Photoshop applying the watercolor filter for example. When you reimport the first frame there's a box to check saying sequenced imagews or something and then it brings it back in as a video clip. I found direction in Photoshop by searching automate for a feature that will do it all for you after you do the first one. - Use this graphic to get the idea of what you're doing http://www.freedomfx.com/ebay/example1.jpg You are creating your own "animatte" so from the graphic the blue waving background would be your normal clip as the background. Your filtered clip would be the girl in swimsuit. Your filtered clip would only show where your "animatte" is painted black, the mirror area. - I used these directions to create a punch of still images to use as "animattes". Eventually I did purchased from FreedomFX and they're pretty cool cause they move at the same time the clips are moving. I see they are currently half the price I paid.
