Still nada. Once the files are selected (P6.5 btw) I try the click & hold to 
drag trick, and it deselects everything but the clip (in the group) that the 
cursor is on. Is there a link tool turned off somewhere? The one under the 
timeline is on.

  After you select the group of files to move, click and hold anywhere 
in the group, then drag them to the new location.
