Ok, that's stereotyping :P actually I just recently talked about how I
felt stupid because of technology, the more I am in computers, the more
I realized I've used less of my brain cell, like for online or cell
phone chat, you no longer write properly, it's just BRB (be right back),
LOL (laugh out loud), etc....

352x240=84480
720x480=345600

that's about 1/4

:o)

----- Original Message -----
Vcd is 352x240 pixel (half of analog clip's size)

Dvd is 720x480 pixel

So, it is almost 1/2 of dvd

I don't think we have to really get too technical as my description
is
more about the 'pixelation' you will get by putting a vcd footage
into
a
dv timeline project.

VCD is not half of DVD resolution. It's about 1/4.

On a vcd disc, there's a folder that is called mpeg (I think)
the
video
file is located there, they have an extenstion as ..dat, rename
it
to
.mpg and you should be able to grab into premiere, however, just
keep
in
mind, vcd resolutions are half of what dvd are, so you might
have
pixalation issue when play back

Subject: [AP] VCD files

I am a high school art teacher and this is the first time posting
a
message on this board. I am creating a senior video for the
class
of

2006. I am using Adobe Premiere 6.5 for this endeavor. I am a
newbie

and my technical vocabulary is on an amateur level. I have
been
working on this video for months using photos. A mother gave me a
DVD

with a collection of senior events. The mother recorded the movies
using her new Digital Recorder (I am not sure what brand). I have
watched the video on Media Player on my computer and the movie
looks
fine. When I try to import the files nothing shows when I open the
folder. The files are VCD files. I think that I have to change
these

files to MPEG files. I know this is probably a simple and common
problem but I have searched for the answer to my problem for 6
hours
and I am frustrated to no end. Can I convert the file? Do I have
to
purchase extra software to convert the movie? Can this even be
done?

I know that many of you are tired of such trivial questions, but
you
are reading words from a desperate woman!

Ha Ha
